Principal Seth Shippy

Welcome to John Nowlin Elementary!

My name is Seth Shippy and I have been the building principal here at John Nowlin for the past three years. I am a graduate of the Odessa School District and the University of Central Missouri. While at UCM I competed in both baseball and wrestling. I have had the opportunity to spend my entire 14-year career with the Blue Springs School District. I spent 6 years teaching at James Walker Elementary and the previous 8 years as an administrator. I am looking forward to another great year as a John Nowlin Knight!

As building principal, my goal is to create and maintain a safe, secure, nurturing, environment for students that create positive, life-long relationships with students and staff. We hope to foster a learning environment where students thrive academically and have the confidence that they can be whatever they set out to be. My mission is to put teachers and staff at John Nowlin who share the same vision for our students and aid them in reaching their greatest potential. John Nowlin is a student-centered building that values the input and partnership with all our families. I believe that each of us play a valuable role in the education of our students and it is through our collaboration that success happens.

Outside of school, I am blessed, proud father, of three wonderful children Cora (8), Mack (5), and Brock (3). My wife Hillary also works in the Blue Springs School District as a third-grade teacher at James Walker Elementary. When I have free time, I spend it with our kids following their softball, baseball, and soccer teams. My two biggest hobbies are hunting and fishing because I love the outdoors.

It is an honor to be part of the Blue Springs School District and I count it a privilege to work with your children each day. Each year brings new excitement and as we work through this year together, I can’t wait to see the growth and success to come!

It’s a great day to be a Knight!

Mr. Shippy
